Acute Immune Support
Today I want to share my recent experience battling a cold and the holistic protocol that helped me bounce back surprisingly quickly. If you’re looking to support your immune health, this might just be the routine you need!
A Surprising Recovery
Just the other night, I went to bed knowing I was on the brink of being super sick. Congestion, fever, and all the classic symptoms kept me tossing and turning. However, when I woke up the next day, I felt rejuvenated and even hit a new personal record at the gym! It was a remarkable turnaround, considering how I felt just hours earlier.
My Immune-Boosting Protocol
Here’s the protocol I followed to help speed my recovery:
Cut Out Sugar: Eliminating sugar is crucial, as it can suppress the immune system. Instead, focus on nutrient-dense foods that provide your body with the energy it needs to heal. Think soups and stews.
Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water is essential. Hydration supports overall health and helps flush out toxins. Drink, even if you don’t feel like it.
Fresh Squeezed Lemon: Adding lemon not only enhances hydration but also provides a boost of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that supports immune function.
Homeopathic Cough Syrup: My fave is Hyland's Homeopathic Cough Syrup to help me sleep without the disturbance of a runny nose and cough.
High-Quality Vitamin D3/K2: Vitamin D is essential for immune health, particularly during the colder months when sunlight exposure is limited. But don’t overdo it.
Camu Camu Powder for Vitamin C: This superfood is loaded with vitamin C, helping to enhance immune function and combat oxidative stress.
Young Living Ningxia Red: I took a couple of shots of this nutrient-rich drink for its antioxidants and vitamins that further support my immune system.
Yeast Defense: This herbal blend includes ingredients like pau d’arco and garlic, which are known for their immune-boosting properties.
Chicken Broth: Rich in nutrients, chicken broth helps nourish the body and can soothe symptoms of illness.
Raw Sauerkraut: The probiotics in sauerkraut support gut health, which is crucial for overall immune function. Just add a spoonful to soups when sick
Essential Oils: I used Raven or Breathe Again essential oil for the first time during an illness. I added it to an Epsom salt bath and diffused it for its soothing properties.
Additional Tips for Immune Health
In addition to my protocol, here are some holistic therapies and nutritional tips to further support your immune system:
Eat a Rainbow: Incorporate a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables into your diet. Foods rich in antioxidants, such as berries, carrots, and leafy greens, can help combat inflammation and bolster immunity.
Probiotic-Rich Foods: Beyond sauerkraut, consider yogurt, kefir, or other fermented foods to support gut health, which plays a vital role in immune function.
Adequate Sleep: Ensure you’re getting enough restful sleep, as this is when your body repairs and rejuvenates itself.
Herbal Teas: Sip on herbal teas like echinacea or ginger, which can support immune health and provide additional hydration.
Stress Management: Engage in practices like meditation, yoga, or deep-breathing exercises. Chronic stress can weaken your immune response, so finding ways to relax is essential.
Conclusion
So, what do you do to help speed along recovery from illness? I hope my personal cold protocol inspires you to explore holistic approaches to immune health. Remember, nurturing your body with the right nutrients and therapies can make all the difference.
